Dr. David and Mrs. Esther Evans

In November of 1999, a young optician, Esther Freyre, traveled to Ometepec, Guerrero, Mexico with a World Cataract Foundation medical mission team. Their 30 member team performed 241 free sight-restoring eye surgeries. Inspired by her first trip with WCF, Esther volunteered to translate for a WCF team to Cuba the following year. These experiences left such an impression on Esther that she has remained a faithful friend and supporter through the years. She married Dr. David Evans in 2002. They share their days together as partners running their business, Total Eye Care in Memphis, Tennessee. In addition to their thriving eye care center, David and Esther produced the popular Christian movie, The Grace Card which was released in 2011.

David and Esther surprised Dr. Jerre Freeman, founder and Lori Hudson, executive director with a display for the World Cataract Foundation in their office lobby. They believe in helping those less fortunate and hope to spread the word about the life-changing work of the World Cataract Foundation.
